In a way music is like writing letters, there is always a you and an I.

Syd Yap (Hen/Hij, 2003, Nijmegen) is a experimental electronic music artist, looking to music genre abstract, pop and Dutch song. The work of syd is found in theater, festival and venue settings, collaborating with visual artists, writers, dancers etc. The story-lines Syd is building their world on lays in curiousity to others and themself, this is because the connection to other people is what makes the art exist and become more real beyond the producer home.
Based in Arnhem Syd travels around the NL to dive into topics like; absurdism in swimming pool bodies featuring queer cast (FLIP FLOP, 2024), introspection in their queerness (probeer me cool en ontoeristerig door de stad te bewegen, 2024) and rough dancing on a privacy revealing art rave (CDrave, 2025).
As Syd grew up always being surrounded by sound in a household that adored acoustic music they applied to Jazz music school to study singing, music theory and band. ArtEZ preperation course gave them connection to more knowledge while still in highschool. Syd started to record their own music and learn music production through the internet in 2019, which eventually became so interesting syd wanted to explore more digital music in their artistic practise. They extended their skill exploring sound with the HKU music and technology bachelor and assisted No Plexus in their internship.
